Discover the Enchantment of the Peter Rabbit House
Nestled at the entrance of Cloudland Station, just beyond the charming village and covered bridge, lies the enchanting Peter Rabbit House. Inspired by Beatrix Potter’s beloved tales, this cottage exudes English charm and timeless elegance.
Architectural Beauty
The Peter Rabbit House boasts a roof with a unique patina, featuring patches of grey and black slate that create a timeless contrast against the chalky white masonry stucco. A thoughtful weather table bump-out along its perimeter adds to its design sophistication. The simplicity of its gabled roof, running from left to right, is only interrupted by an additional gable that provides extra space for a spacious upstairs bedroom.
Rustic Elegance
Hand-carved dark timbers soften the edges and, paired with a linen white ceiling, create an elegant rustic ambiance that is quintessentially English. This classic 1.5-story cottage features a full first-floor ceiling, while the second-floor external walls are shorter knee walls, allowing the slanted roofs to be visible inside the rooms. These cozy bedrooms offer the perfect nests for both owners and guests alike.
Interior Charm
The interiors of the Peter Rabbit House are adorned with lovely shades of light blue, gold, and white. The dark timbers and wooden touches are ubiquitous yet never overwhelming, adding to the home’s rustic charm.
The Sunroom: A Beloved Retreat
According to the owner, Barbara Garner, the most cherished room in the house is the sunroom. Radiant with windows that make up three walls and the side gable, this room offers a breathtaking vista of Peacock Valley, stretching past the village and towards the head of the valley. It’s a serene spot where you can often find Barbara enjoying a book in her lap, waving to passersby.
The Peter Rabbit House is a testament to thoughtful design and timeless elegance, offering a cozy and charming retreat in the heart of Cloudland Station.
